Results/ Conclusion:
All in all the survey shows that the students of the class of love spend most of their time in front of the computer when it comes to media usage. There is no big difference between girls and boys regarding this result.
• But taking a closer look at who spends most time using the Internet you will see that exchange students prefer the Internet as a communication medium to stay in touch with their friends and families far away (via “Skype” and “Facebook”).
• Regarding the time spent listening to the radio or an MP3-Player you notice the largest spread of time differences: The time used for this alternates between zero and 26.3 hours.
• There also is a big difference in the preferences of cell phones and calls via landline. Some students only use their cell phones to call their friends, others prefer calls via landline.
• The results regarding the time spent reading any kind of print media are also interesting: All in all you can say that either someone does not spend any time at all reading papers, magazines or books, or – on the other hand – between four and nine hours per week.
• The Television apparently keeps on loosing its influence. Most of the students watch TV less than ten hours per week. Movies are mostly watched via Internet or computer via DVD.
